Vertical screw conveyor is a type of mechanical conveyor that are used to transport materials vertically. Vertical screw conveyor consists of a rotating screw that is enclosed in a tube, which helps to move materials from the bottom to the top.
When you have zero horizontal space to run an inclined conveyor, the Vertical Screw Conveyor is the only mechanical solution. It lifts material straight up.
- The Physics (Expertise): It works differently from horizontal screws. It relies on Centrifugal Force. The screw spins fast (140-200 RPM), throwing the material against the pipe wall. The friction holds the material there, allowing the flight to push it up. If it spins too slow, material just falls back down.
Limitation Checklist (Read Before Buying)
Vertical screws are specialized. They are NOT suitable for:
- Large Lumps: Rocks >15mm will jam the gap.
- Sticky Material: Wet sludge will stick to the flight and not lift.
- Fragile Material: The high speed will break pellets/capsules.
- Best For: Dry, free-flowing powder (Cement, Flour, Gypsum, Dry Sand).
Structure Features
- Bottom Bearing: The bottom bearing is buried in material. We use a specialized sealed bearing housing or isolate it externally to prevent failure.
- Feeding: It requires Controlled Feeding. You cannot dump a truckload into it directly. It usually needs a horizontal screw feeder at the inlet to force-feed the material.

Q: How to maintain the hanger bearings?
A: This is the most critical maintenance point. Some hanger bearings have external grease pipes-pump grease weekly. For self-lubricating types, inspect wear every 6 months.
