Apron Chain Feeder for Heavy-duty Mining

The Kunwei Apron Feeder is the "tank" of feeding systems. While belt feeders tear under pressure, our Apron Feeder is engineered to handle materials that are too hot, too heavy, or too sharp for rubber belts. Solved Pain Points: Impact Damage: Takes the smashing impact of 1-meter rocks directly from dump trucks. Heat Resistance: Handles hot clinker or slag up to 400°C (impossible for belts). Bridging: Powerful traction force breaks down material bridging in silos. Material: High Manganese Steel Plates + Excavator-grade Track Chain.

Description

Typical Applications & Industries

This machine is the first line of defense in your crushing plant. It is widely used in:

  • Mining & Quarrying: Feeding large, sharp run-of-mine (ROM) rocks into the Primary Crusher (Jaw/Gyratory).
  • Cement Plants: Transporting high-temperature hot clinker from the kiln.
  • Metallurgy: Handling heavy iron ore or copper ore with high bulk density.
  • Construction Waste: Moving concrete slabs and rebar without jamming.

Capacity & Series Classification

We classify our feeders based on impact resistance:

  • Light-Duty (GBZ Series): For material density < 1200kg/m³, block size < 160mm. Ideal for chemical or small aggregate plants.
  • Medium-Duty (GBL Series): For density < 2400kg/m³, block size < 400mm. Common in general mining.
  • Heavy-Duty (GBZ Series): For density > 2400kg/m³, block size > 1000mm. Built for the toughest primary crushing stations.
  • Throughput: Ranging from 50 t/h up to 2000 t/h.

Apron Chain Feeder Accesories

Structure Design & Material Selection

  • The Pans (Plates): Made of High Manganese Steel (Mn13). These plates work-harden under impact, meaning they get tougher the more rocks hit them.
  • The Chain: We use standard Excavator Track Chains (Crawler Chains). They are maintenance-free, incredibly durable, and parts are easy to source globally.
  • The Drive: Equipped with a frequency converter (VFD) to adjust feeding speed precisely based on crusher load.

Structure Design & Material Selection

  • Belt Feeder: Good for sand, soil, and small stones. Cheap but fragile.
  • Apron Feeder: Essential for sharp rocks (which slice belts), heavy boulders (which crush idlers), and hot materials (which melt rubber).
  • Vibrating Feeder: Good for screening, but cannot handle wet/sticky material (it sticks to the pan). Apron feeders force sticky material forward.

Customization Options

  • Inclination: Can be installed horizontally or at an angle up to 25 degrees to save pit depth.
  • Hopper Design: We design the feed hopper with wear liners to match your truck dumping height.
  • Spillage Control: Optional dribble belt underneath to collect fine particles that fall between plates.

Installation & Maintenance

  • Modular Design: The head, tail, and intermediate sections are bolted, making it easy to ship in containers and assemble on-site.
  • Easy Chain Tensioning: Features a screw take-up device at the tail to keep the chain tight and prevent skipping.

FAQ

Q: Can it handle sticky clay or wet ore?

A: Yes. Unlike vibrating feeders that lose efficiency with wet mud, the Apron Feeder provides positive displacement-it physically pushes the mud forward with strong traction.

Q: How long do the plates last?

A: With proper maintenance, our Manganese Steel plates typically last 3-5 years even in harsh mining conditions.
