Product Overview: The Essential "Maintenance Gate"
While electric valves control the flow process, the Manual Flat Gate is your safety insurance. It is typically installed at the outlet of a silo or hopper, directly above the rotary valve or screw feeder.
Why do you need it? When your downstream equipment (like a feeder) needs maintenance, you manually close this gate to stop the material flow. This allows you to change parts without emptying the entire silo. It is designed for infrequent operation but must work reliably when needed.
Smooth & Reliable Operation
Many cheap manual gates get stuck after months of inactivity due to rust or dust jamming the screw. We solve this:
- Trapezoidal Thread Screw: We use a high-strength lead screw with a trapezoidal thread. It provides high torque conversion, allowing you to open a heavy gate with minimal hand force.
- Self-Cleaning Slot: The gate slot is designed to push out dust as it closes, preventing material buildup that could jam the plate.
- Bearings: The handwheel shaft is supported by bearings, ensuring it turns smoothly even after years of use.
Operation Types
- Handwheel (Standard): For easily accessible installations. Rotate the wheel to open/close.
- Chain Wheel: For installations high up on a silo where operators cannot reach. A chain hangs down to the ground level for operation.
- Ratchet / Lever: For quick cut-off (smaller sizes only).

Q: Can I use this to control flow rate (dosing)?
A: It acts primarily as a Shut-Off (Open/Close) valve. While you can leave it partially open to restrict flow, for precise flow control, we recommend our Electric Slide Gate or Rotary Feeder.
Q: Is it dust-tight?
A: Yes. We use an adjustable gland packing seal (Graphite or PTFE) around the screw shaft and gate entry. You can tighten the gland bolts if you notice any dust leakage over time.
