(1) The traction force of the tape conveyor is transmitted through the friction between the transmission drum and the tape, so the tape must be tightened with a tensioning device so that the tape has a certain initial tension at the separation of the drum roller.
(2) The tape runs on the idler together with the cargo load. The tape is both a traction mechanism and a bearing mechanism, and there is no relative movement between the cargo load and the tape, which eliminates the frictional resistance between the tape and the cargo load in operation. Since the idler is equipped with a rolling bearing, there is rolling friction between the tape and the idler, so the running resistance is greatly reduced, thereby reducing the power consumption and increasing the transportation distance. For a belt conveyor, the size of its traction transmission capacity is determined by the tension of the tape, the wrapping angle of the tape on the drive drum and the friction coefficient between the tape and the drive drum. To ensure that the tape of the belt conveyor does not slip on the transmission drum and operate normally, corresponding measures should be taken according to different situations in production practice. Improving traction transmission can start with the following:
(1) Increase the tension force (initial tension). In the operation of the belt conveyor, the tape should be extended, causing the traction to decrease, so according to the situation, the tightening device should be used to properly tighten the tape and increase the tape tension to improve the traction.
(2) Increase the coefficient of friction. Its specific measures are: protect the wooden lining or rubber and other gaskets covered on the transmission drum to increase the friction coefficient, on the other hand, reduce the water coal to prevent the friction coefficient from decreasing.
(3) Increase the corner of the encirclement. Due to the poor working conditions and large traction required by the downhole belt conveyor, the double drum drive is mostly used to increase the encirclement angle.
